Premiere of ‘All Earth Once Drowned’ in London, Belfast and Dublin
‘All Earth Once Drowned’ is a new 70 minute work for ensemble, improvisers and spoken word working with texts by the Irish poet Cherry Smyth. The text and music addresses our relationship to the changing environment and particularly our relationship to the sea and how those changes affect our own and the planets welfare. It is part lament and part celebration. The work was commissioned by Moving On Music with assistance from the Arts Council of Northern Ireland, the PRSF Foundation and Kunstlerhaus Villa Concordia and received it’s premiere performances in March and April at the Brilliant Corners Festival in Belfast, Daylight Music in London and at the New Music Dublin Festival. ‘All Earth Once Drowned’ was created for a new formation of Ed’s Decibel Ensemble with Ed taking up the conducting role for the first time in several years.
